Guitar Set Ups
Our guitar students range from ages 7 to 60, so the guitars that each student has varies greatly in size, shape, and function. Some guitars are nylon string acoustic, others are steel string acoustic, and the rest are the solid body electrics. Each of these instruments have specific methods for restringing and intonation set up. Excessive string hight on the neck of the guitar is usually the most common hinderance for a student to play comfortably. As a courtesy, we will set up the student’s instrument for optimum playability. We will also restring the guitar if needed. The same service is also provided for Bass Guitar students as well. Reading Music And Music Theory
Music is a language. Like with any language, your ability to communicate increases with each learned word and phrase. Learning to read music helps you to perform music by extracting the information from a page or a screen. Learning Music Theory helps with the ability to learn songs by ear, and to create music. Each new “favorite” song that is taught becomes a Music Theory and Reading exercise.

A series of apps provided by 5 Diamond Music Services Inc. aide in expanding fretboard knowledge on the guitar and bass guitar. The Apps were created by David Lopez, Guitar Instructor in Rancho Santa Margarita CA.
Guitar Note Legend
Guitar Note Legend App provides you with the name and music staff location of each note on the guitar’s fretboard up to the 12th fret. Just click any note on the guitar’s fretboard to find its name, alternate voicing and music staff location.
Guitar Sight Reading Workout
The goal of the Guitar Sight Reading Workout App is to improve a guitarist’s sight reading ability by matching notes on a music staff to note locations on all 6 of the guitar strings up to the 12th fret.
Guitar Note Workout
Guitar Note Workout is a training App. It will help you increase your guitar fretboard knowledge. When you are able to readily find the notes, it will enhance your ability to find scale and chord starting points in other keys. The goal is to locate specific notes on all six of the guitar strings up to the 12th fret. The notes must be located within the time limit of 15 or 20 seconds.
Guitar Chord Workout
The Guitar Chord Workout App was created to help guitarists with transitioning between chords while staying in rhythm. Each chord group is a I vi IV V progression in the keys of C, G, D, A, E, B and F.
Guitar 7th Chord Workout
The Guitar 7th Chord Workout App was created to help guitarists with transitioning between chords while staying in rhythm.Each group of 7th chords are based on a I vi IV V progression in the keys of C, G, D, A, E, B and F
Pentatonic Scale Workout
The Pentatonic Scale Workout App will test your ability to recall all of the Pentatonic Scale shapes on the app’s guitar fretboard. The goal is to successfully mimic the Pentatonic scales as they are presented in the app. Each scale has three different patterns. The first pattern presented for each scale shape is an ascending pattern. The second pattern for each scale shape is an ascending and descending pattern.
The third pattern for each scale shape demonstrates how to play the scale with a different ascending and descending pattern. Each scale has its own unique third pattern. After the demonstration of the pattern is given, you will be prompted to take your turn at playing the pattern.
If you touch a wrong note, you will be prompted to try again. If you need to see a demonstration of the scale pattern, press the play button to replay. When you accurately touch and complete the scale pattern, you will get a thumb’s up. Press the forward button to proceed to the next scale shape. Press the back button to review a previous scale shape.
Blues Scale Workout
The Blues Scale Workout App will test your ability to recall all of the Blues Scale shapes on the app’s guitar fretboard. The goal is to successfully mimic the Blues scales as they are presented in the app. Each scale has three different patterns. The first pattern presented for each scale shape is an ascending pattern.
The second pattern for each scale shape is an ascending and descending pattern. After the demonstration of the pattern is given, you will be prompted to take your turn at playing the pattern. Guitar Melodic Minor Workout
The Guitar Melodic Minor Workout App will test your ability to recall the 7 Melodic Minor modes on the guitar’s fretboard. The modes are based on the key of G major.
Bass Note Legend
Bass Note Legend App provides you with the name and music staff location of each note on the bass guitar’s fretboard up to the 12th fret. Just click any note on the bass guitar’s fretboard to find its name, alternate voicing and music staff location.
Bass Note Workout
The Bass Note Workout App provides a bassist with the ability to practice locating notes on the bass guitar. The ultimate goal is to develop a mental mastery of the bass guitar’s fretboard while away from the instrument.
The goal is to accurately find selected notes on all the bass guitar strings up to the 12th fret. All of the notes must be found within the chosen time limit of 10 to 15 seconds.
The Note Selector will take you to the Circle Of Fifths to chose the notes you wish to practice. You have the option of choosing between a 4 string and 5 string bass as well as changing your fretboard appearance.
